Completed reconstruction of the second and third floor
Health Minister Nikola Todorov today visited the Gerontology Institute "13 November" where the reconstruction of that health institution is in progress.
- This is an investment worth about 50 million. Until now the second and third floor are reconstructed and fully completed. Reconstruction in health institutions is a specific job and the reconstruction is going floor by floor. While reconstruction is taking place on one floor the patients are transfered to the other floor. This is a complex action, said Todorov.
Take into consideration, he said, that this institution has not been reconstructed earlier, this was more than necessary. This is confirmed by the statements of the patients who were previously housed in conditions that were below the quality level of accommodation. Now they are made double rooms with bathrooms and in much higher standard.
- For better social life of patients, there is a daily center where patients can watch TV and maybe play some social games. Patients in this health institution staying longer periods of time and therefore we must bear in mind the social aspect of the functioning of this institution, said Todorov.
He emphasized that the dynamics with which the works are being performed in Gerontology Institute is satisfactory. - Just as agreed by the end of February, we will be able to fully close this building grip and the whole building to be completely renovated - all floors, complete renovation of the basement and the kitchen, which was in poor condition, added Minister Todorov.
Director of the Gerontology Institute "13 November" Lence Neloska said that the building of this health institution is made at the beginning of the 80s and that this is the first major renovation taking place and it is done thoroughly, the whole infrastructure in terms of electricity, water, drainage , toilets and all carpentry.
She pointed out that although central heating on the second floor was off during the reconstruction, still inside was warm, which means, she said, it will contribute to making savings in terms of heating.
- Conditions are incomparable. The previous conditions were below any standard. Now we have a really high standard of accommodation what is very important for these patients because we are the only institution for long-term residence in the country. So our patients do not stay for two or three days but sometimes for months, and some years, said Neloska
He emphasized that Gerontology Institute "13 November" and the Department of Bitola have in total 470 patients.
- Now capacity will slightly decrease due to the higher standard. So before we had rooms with five and six beds, now it's not the case anymore. Now we only have double and triple rooms, added Neloska.
